Do Cell Phone Cases Protect Against Radiation?

Do Cell Phone Cases Protect Against Radiation?

The health hazards and dangers associated with the use of the mobile phone has been the issue of contemplation since its debut. The core issue being that the electromagnetic radiation transmitted through the antenna poses a great risk to our health.

No evidence exists to show that cell phones cause cancer or any health issues to the user. Despite this, individuals are still worried about the electromagnetic radiations from these devices and searching for ways to decrease it to as little as possible.

Cell phone cases have being designed by some manufacturers to protect people from these electromagnetic waves by blocking the radiation. However not all cell phone cases have the capability to block radiation, only those specifically built to carry-out this singular task. Many companies and brands have made these cases accessible in various stores and it is essential to search for cases that can carry-out such task.

What you need to know about cell phone radiation

A cell phone works by emitting frequencies which are radio waves through air. Radio wave is by itself a form of radiation which is non-ionizing. This non-ionizing radiation poses less health risks when compared to the X-rays which is an ionizing radiation commonly used in medical diagnosis.

Newer models of cell phones such as the smart phones emit a relatively higher amount of radiation than the older models of mobile phones. The more time an individual spends on their smart devices, the more prone they are to the effects associated with radiation.

Do you really need a cell phone case that protects against radiation?

There has been no research to prove that radio waves can be dangerous to the health of a person, it’s left for you to decide if you have the need for a radiation-protecting phone case. Until new and verifiable evidence emerge, there is no need to be too worried about the hazards associated with the radiation from using a mobile phone. The health conscious ones among us may break away from the norm and reach any length to be sure they do everything possible to prevent certain health risks due to radiation.

A number of selections are obtainable for use in blocking radiations. The cell phone case could offer some assistance; it works by detecting radio waves and deflecting radio waves away from your head. The cell phone case minimizes the dangers of radiation but it does not offer a 100% protection from radiation.

Tips for reducing exposure to radiation from a cell phone

The use of an anti-radiation cell phone case is considered as one of the means capable of minimizing the effects of cell phone radiation on the body. Nevertheless, an anti-radiation cell phone case is not the only means to minimize the quantity of radiation assimilated into your body.

You might want to try the following:

  1. Change your device to a flip phone, or find out about mobile phones that emit less radiation.
  2. Try to avoid having your mobile phone near your body. Instead, carry it inside a purse, bag or a briefcase.
  3. Always keep your phone fully charged. This is because as your battery gets low, your phone works twice as hard to sustain a cellular connection resulting in more radiation.
  4. It is good practice to have a landline or telephone at home or office instead of making use of your mobile phone at all times.

Is cell phone radiation harmful?

In recent times, a lot of companies have been creating a variety of products such as the radiation-blocking cell phone cases to ensure safety, and reduce the worries of some people who make use of the cell phone. These products can be effectively used to prevent about 99% of cell phone radiations. Virtually, all electronic devices from laptops, televisions, microwaves to vacuum cleaners and cell phones all emit electromagnetic radiation which may be dangerous to healthy living.

How do cell phone radiation shields work?

Cell phone radiation shields are composed of ceramic or any conductive material to prevent radiation from penetrating into the ear or head. These radiation shields can be obtained from many big physical stores or online stores for various phone models.

A cell phone radiation shield is a very fashionable way to protect yourself from the possibly dangerous radiations which the use of a mobile phone exposes you to. Also, a popular opinion is that electromagnetic radiations are one of the leading causes of reproductive health issues in men such as; poor sperm viability, sperm motility, and low testosterone levels.

A fashionable radiation blocking cell phone case can help minimize the effects of cell phone radiation on your testicles by more than 90%, safeguarding your reproductive health. It is also important to point out that the cell phone case will not reduce the strength of the signal received by your mobile device and you can still receive and send messages, make calls and use the internet as efficiently as you would without it.

Mobile phones produce electromagnetic radiation (EMR) when connected to a mobile network. The use of these cell phone radiation cases are advised for an improved fertility and health as it shields you and deflects the radiation emitted away from you.

The substances used in making cell phone radiation products are similar to those used in dispersing radar signals. The shield is built to scatter the radiation away from the cell phone user and the environment entirely while enabling the user to utilize all the attributes of their cell phones.

Furthermore, this radiation is not deflected back into the environment, reducing the harmful effects on nearby people. Thus these radiation-blocking cases are efficient shields and also save the environment from the dangerous effects of radiation.

Overcoming The Pain Of A Breakup: 3 Suggestions Based On Science

We thought that the expression ‘broken heart’ was just a metaphor, but science is telling us that it is not: breakups and rejections do cause physical pain. When a group of psychologists asked research participants to look at images of their ex-partners who broke up with them, researchers found that the same brain areas that are activated by physical pain are also activated by looking at images of ex-partners. Looking at images of our ex is a painful experience, literally.[1].

Given that the effect of rejections and breakups is the same as the effect of physical pain, scientists have speculated on whether the practices that reduce physical pain could be used to reduce the emotional pain that follows from breakups and rejections. In a study on whether painkillers reduce the emotional pain caused by a breakup, researchers found that painkillers did help. Individuals who took painkillers were better able to deal with their breakup. Tamar Cohen wrote that “A simple dose of paracetamol could help ease the pain of a broken heart.”[2]

Just like painkillers can be used to ease the pain of a broken heart, other practices that ease physical pain can also be used to ease the pain of rejections and breakups. Three of these scientifically validated practices are presented in this article.

Looking at images of loved ones

While images of ex-partners stimulate the pain neuro-circuitry in our brain, images of loved ones activate a different circuitry. Looking at images of people who care about us increases the release of oxytocin in our body. Oxytocin, or the “cuddle hormone,” is the hormone that our body relies on to induce in us a soothing feeling of tranquility, even when we are under high stress and pain.

In fact, oxytocin was found to have a crucial role as a mother is giving birth to her baby. Despite the extreme pain that a mother has to endure during delivery, the high level of oxytocin secreted by her body transforms pain into pleasure. Mariem Melainine notes that, “Oxytocin levels are usually at their peak during delivery, which promotes a sense of euphoria in the mother and helps her develop a stronger bond with her baby.”[3]

Whenever you feel tempted to look at images of your ex-partner, log into your Facebook page and start browsing images of your loved ones. As Eva Ritvo, M.D. notes, “Facebook fools our brain into believing that loved ones surround us, which historically was essential to our survival. The human brain, because it evolved thousands of years before photography, fails on many levels to recognize the difference between pictures and people”[4]

Exercise

Endorphins are neurotransmitters that reduce our perception of pain. When our body is high on endorphins, painful sensations are kept outside of conscious awareness. It was found that exercise causes endorphins to be secreted in the brain and as a result produce a feeling of power, as psychologist Alex Korb noted in his book: “Exercise causes your brain to release endorphins, neurotransmitters that act on your neurons like opiates (such as morphine or Vicodin) by sending a neural signal to reduce pain and provide anxiety relief.”[5] By inhibiting pain from being transmitted to our brain, exercise acts as a powerful antidote to the pain caused by rejections and breakups.

Meditation

Jon Kabat Zinn, a doctor who pioneered the use of mindfulness meditation therapy for patients with chronic pain, has argued that it is not pain itself that is harmful to our mental health, rather, it is the way we react to pain. When we react to pain with irritation, frustration, and self-pity, more pain is generated, and we enter a never ending spiral of painful thoughts and sensations.

In order to disrupt the domino effect caused by reacting to pain with pain, Kabat Zinn and other proponents of mindfulness meditation therapy have suggested reacting to pain through nonjudgmental contemplation and acceptance. By practicing meditation on a daily basis and getting used to the habit of paying attention to the sensations generated by our body (including the painful ones and by observing these sensations nonjudgmentally and with compassion) our brain develops the habit of reacting to pain with grace and patience.

When you find yourself thinking about a recent breakup or a recent rejection, close your eyes and pay attention to the sensations produced by your body. Take deep breaths and as you are feeling the sensations produced by your body, distance yourself from them, and observe them without judgment and with compassion. If your brain starts wandering and gets distracted, gently bring back your compassionate nonjudgmental attention to your body. Try to do this exercise for one minute and gradually increase its duration.

With consistent practice, nonjudgmental acceptance will become our default reaction to breakups, rejections, and other disappointments that we experience in life. Every rejection and every breakup teaches us great lessons about relationships and about ourselves.
