Roy Peter Clark has turned those fifty tools into a book. The tools are no longer available on the Poynter site, BUT if you’re interested in that sort of thing, Clark has started a blog covering similar information.

A great post about writing. What I wonder though is whether reading is as important today with the rise in mp3 audiobooks? With reading going down and listening going up, audiobooks are sounding more like niche podcasts and less like traditional books and novels.

While I think this is useful to a point, some of these seem horribly off-base. “Beware of adverbs?” Adverbs tend to be the MOST powerful part of writing if used right. This is more a guide to simple writing rather than actually learning to write well.
