Great GTD solution, but no native feel

Nirvana is the best of the GTD options out there on the web. It adheres very closely to the GTD philosophy and lets me get through my tasks with minimum effort. The pricing is quite reasonable too.

Unfortunately, I have to take off one point because the app feels more like a website than a native iOS app at times. I could deal with the clunky animations, but the lack of support for subtle things like going back by swiping in from the left side of the screen still catches me from time to time. A full rewrite isn’t necessary, but more attention to platform conventions would be appreciated if they’re not going to go the native route.

If you use the web version, this app is a great companion. If you only want something for mobile though, you may want to look at other options with better mobile offerings.

Excellent organizing tool

Are you nerdy about organizing your life? Will you spend hours building a system and workflow in order to save yourself just a few minutes every time you touch a certain task? Do you like to have things in their right place?

This app is designed specifically around the GTD method, and in my experience with trialing all sorts of options out there I believe Nirvana does the best job following the system created by David Allen. For those new to GTD, as I am, the process takes a unique approach to task management which requires an initial investment of time and consideration to lay out a map for how to best integrate it into your life. For instance, I spent a full weekend working on integrating it into my email systems (Outlook Exchange for work and Gmail at home) as well as building a system that fits my needs within Nirvana, and today I continue to find ways to tweak the system for increasing productivity. Read or listen to the book first, otherwise this app may be confusing for you.

Clean GTD app lacking a few crucial functions

In terms of clean look and GTD features, I loved Nirvana initially and paid $50 for a lifetime membership. I also love and use the Focus feature everyday. However I failed to realize a few downfalls prior to buying and despite much time investment building up my system in Nirvana, I’m considering switching apps. Most importantly, there is no collaborative feature, so I cannot have joint projects or share tasks with my partner, which is very disappointing and I have to use multiple clunkier and less effective apps, which is wearing on us. Though push notifications were apparently added finally as a feature after years of user complaints, I have yet to witness this to work on any of my devices despite updating, scouring settings, etc. There are a few other design flaws that seem they could be easily addressed and have been requested by users to no avail - I unfortunately get the impression that the Nirvana team is neither responsive nor quick to adapt to user feedback.
