I don’t know about you guys, but there is one thing that bothers me more than just about anything else when I’m online, and that is hearing sounds in different tabs than the one I am currently using. Here and there, it’s not that big of a deal, because it means that a video I was waiting to load has finally finished buffering and is ready to watch. More often than not though, I am working away on one tab, when an auto-playing ad suddenly cues up on another and I’m left slamming the mute button on my keyboard or frantically shuffling through my open tabs trying to find the stupid ad that started distracting me.
The Mute Tab extension on Chrome aims to put a stop to this frantic searching to identify the sounds in different tabs by allowing you to control which tabs are muted and which are allowed to play sound.
