You’ve Got to See This Map of the United States Organized by Desserts!

It’s pretty much common knowledge that Americans love their junk food, and many citizens of the USA favor desserts. With phrases like “American as apple pie,” it is no surprise that desserts play a huge role in American culture! Slate writer L. V. Anderson and artist Jess Fink have put together a wonderful, interactive map of the United States that features a dessert that represents each state.

In the article, Anderson explains some of the rules she used when choosing the desserts for each state. One such rule is that no state could lay claim to perhaps the two most American desserts– apple pie, as I mentioned above, and chocolate chip cookies. Another rule is that brands could not have been chosen, as Anderson wanted to display desserts that can be made at home.

Check out the map and read Anderson’s article to see more about each dessert!
