The idea that forgetting could be a good thing seems ridiculous considering all the negative circumstances we associate it with. Forgetting to do a homework assignment, forgetting to bring something important on a trip, forgetting an anniversary… and the stress all of these circumstances cost.

When and how could forgetting be beneficial?

First of all, the human brain is designed to forget, and though scientists disagree on what causes us to forget information or memories, there’s a reason we don’t remember it all. Watch this informative video from the PBS-sponsored YouTube channel BrainCraft to learn why we need to forget.
