A laugh a day just might keep the doctor away. You might be surprised at the genuine positive health effects the act of laughing can have. Don’t want to catch the flu this season? Laughter has been shown to boost the immune system, increase the number of virus-killing cells in your bloodstream, and reduce stress related hormones (high stress levels can make you more vulnerable to illness). And, of course, there are mental and emotional benefits to getting plenty of hearty laughter: laughing can help balance emotions, and simply hearing the sound of laughter can lift a person’s mood. It also fosters bonding and cooperation amongst those who share a laugh, a great asset in a work or other group environment.
