Medical studies have shown a strong link between a lack of sleep and health problems or cognitive impairment. The most commonly recommended amount of sleep for adults is seven to nine hours. For years, the percentage of people who get enough sleep has been shrinking, with more and more adults not getting the sleep their bodies and minds need to be healthy. A smaller portion of the population can survive on less sleep than is normally needed for their age range, but most of us can’t function properly on so little sleep. The costs of getting less sleep than you truly need aren’t worth staying up watching TV!
