If you’ve ever looked into home or office security systems, you’ve surely encountered a few problems. Monthly costs and complicated contracts, for one, are essentially unavoidable with traditional security systems. You may have also experienced trouble getting a security system installed in an office or residence that you’re renting, whether it is because of restrictions on your lease or complications with the hard wiring required of most traditional systems. But this Kickstarter project, Novi Security, seeks to solve these problems with a portable system that does not require a contract or monthly payments.
In addition to the troubles mentioned above, Novi helps users avoid the hassle that arises when, with many other systems, the alarm is triggered and the police are summoned. Instead of calling the police, Novi sends pictures of potential threats to your smart phone and provides options for your actions. The system is also battery operated, so in the case of a power outage, your home or office can still be protected. It appears to be the first of its kind.
And if you thought Novi couldn’t get any better, if, in your rush out the door, you forget to set your alarm, Novi will remind you that your home or office is unprotected.
