Except for one clever fellow way ahead of his time, the selfie is an entirely modern way for people take portraits of themselves, solo, or with friends and family. We use them to express our emotions, show off our stuff, and make people jealous that we’re laying on a sunny beach or visiting Disneyland. “Selfie” has even made it into the Oxford English Dictionary, forever solidifying it in human history. Love ’em or hate ’em, the selfie doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon.
