Ebola is considered to be the world’s scariest virus. With the chances of survival tabbed at 20-30%, the WHO (World Health Organization) has cautioned travelers to avoid West Africa as they try to contain the epidemic.
At the moment, there is no cure for the disease. One lucky individual received an experimental treatment that helped stabilize the secondary conditions associated with the virus. If you aren’t sure what the big deal is about Ebola, check out the infographic above.
Perhaps the scariest aspect of the disease is how quickly it can spread. In order to contain the virus, infected areas have closed their borders. Furthermore, major airlines have temporarily cancelled flights going to and from Liberia and Sierra Leone.
So far, reports of the disease spreading outside of Africa has been minimal. Do you think Ebola has the potential to reach other continents? Share your thoughts with us.
