If you’ve been thinking about getting a pet for yourself or your family, one thing you can do to help make the decision easier is to compare the cost of owning each. Dogs and cats are the most popular pets in the United States and they’re well loved in other countries as well, but which one will keep your pockets happy? Take a look at the infographic below and you can see for yourself which one is best for you.

The Cost of Owning a Pet - Infographic
As a dog owner, I’m not surprised that dogs are more expensive. Even though the infographic doesn’t take into account the size or type of dog or cat you may have, it’s still pretty accurate. Dog food is just a little more expensive than cat food, but dog toys and medical expenses are a lot more than cats.

Are you surprised by the cost of a dog versus a cat? If you own a dog or cat, do you agree that your type of pet costs as much as the infographic states? Let us know in the comments.
