11 Things You Should Know About Tapatio Hot Sauce

While Tapatio might not be as trendy as Sriracha sauce or as legendary as Tabasco Sauce, it certainly has its own strong fan base nonetheless. In fact, I just had some on my tacos at dinner tonight. If you’re one of the many fans of the popular Mexican hot sauce, you’ll certainly enjoy this great infographic all about Tapatio.

For example, did you know this hot sauce was actually born in America? Maywood, California to be exact. In fact, its creator, Jose-Luis Saavedra created it because the Mexican immigrant was frustrated that he couldn’t find any hot sauces besides Tabasco in his local markets. Another fun fact, the sauce was originally named Cuervo, but was forved to change its name after a legal threat from Jose Cuervo.
