Learn Tough Stuff Faster

Learn Tough Stuff Faster

Paul’s Tips wants to share what he’s learned about life. In this installment, Paul has ideas on how to absorb difficult material. In bullet form, these are:

  • Bombard yourself with information
  • Identify the key concepts and make them yours
  • Only memorize what absolutely has to be memorized
  • Get some feedback on your understanding
  • Bombard yourself with some more information, but from another source
  • Get some real-world feedback

I can see this hack having several applications, in businesses, as well as in studying for class, and much more. Though they’re all common sense on the surface, it’s certainly a good reminder of a great way to approach learning.

The Lifehack Show Episode 6: On Friendship and Belonging

In this episode, we talk with Dr. Kyler Shumway, Doctor of Clinical Psychology and author of The Friendship Formula: How to Say Goodbye to Loneliness and Discover Deeper Connection. In his earlier years, Dr. Shumway was a target of bullying; he also found himself plagued with social anxiety, which he still battles today, yet also uses as an empowering guide to help others overcome social anxiety and form solid, lasting friendships within their own lives.

Dr. Shumway is an advocate for friendship and believes that: “… together, we can bring an end to the bullying problem by breaking the chain of suffering, daring to be different, and creating a world where everyone belongs.”
