One of the best things about our enormous, wonderful planet – other than pizza – is that we each experience our own cultures in unique but relatable ways. One of the main differences that define us is our mother tongue, but perhaps even more difficult to translate than our preferred verbal language is body language because it is also vastly different across the planet. For instance, as Richard Lewis writes in his book ‘When Cultures Collide: Leading Across Cultures’:
“Arms, which are used little by Nordics during conversation, are an indispensable element in one’s communicative weaponry in Italy, Spain, and South America.”
