What would you do for your neighbours?

Watch as an entire town secretly learns sign language to surprise their neighbour, Muharrem, in one of the most inspirational adverts of the year.

The heart-warming stunt, “Hearing Hands,” was arranged by Samsung Turkey as part of an ad campaign for their new video calling centre, which helps the hearing impaired to communicate more easily.

The whole town took sign language lessons for the event, which took more than a month of preparation. On December 28th, the day of the event, cameras were hidden all around the town in Istanbul, including some concealed in bags and pieces of fake fruit.

The video begins with Muharrem going about his day, unaware, with his sister Ölzem, who helped to arrange the event. One by one, people begin to use sign language to communicate with him, until most of the town has arrived..

The overwhelming happiness on Muharrem’s face may leave you reaching for the tissues – don’t say we didn’t warn you.
