Here, New Jersey’s spoken word poet Patrick Roche is performing for Princeton University at their 2014 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. Roche is simply counting down from 21, and yet he is conveying an incredible struggle, a clearly painful journey in his life; it is beautifully and tragically wonderful. Having grown up with an alcoholic father I find his story, but most of all his bravery, incredibly moving. What do you feel when listening to his poem?
