Contrary to popular opinion, England is not the ridiculously polite nation that people think it is. Sure, we have made-up rules such as not speaking on public transport but no one’s going to start duelling with umbrella’s if you start a conversation on a bus. As long as you offer a cup of tea to guests every half an hour and don’t burn down anyone’s home you’re golden.
