When a man called home to report that people with multiple felonies are earning six figures a year, everyone wanted to have a piece of it. Citizens who are desperate for job travel from different parts of the world, to North Dakota, in search of oil rigging job. But not everyone is lucky. The search for a new start and better life soon turns into joblessness and homelessness.

The only one with the milk of compassion and ready to offer help is Jay Reinke, a pastor who runs the Concordia Lutheran Church in Williston, in North Dakota. A heart of compassion

People with hope of finding job are disappointed, as joblessness turns into hopelessness and homelessness. They find out that things are not as easy as it seems but then, turning back home is not an option. They are determined. A pastor stands up to support the homeless in the face of rejection by his own congregation. The pastor needs the citizens of the community to see the influx as a blessing, rally round him, and help the people secure permanent supportive housing.

    The reality of homelessness

The Overnighters is a movie that discusses the reality in the American society. It tells the story of a pastor who will not fold his hands and watch the value of humanity degraded as millions of people are faced with homeless. The documentary movie features interviews of people who are in the middle of this debacle with the aim of expressing their stories so that audiences can feel the impact of how much widespread joblessness is damaging the very fabric of the American society. The overnighters is a story of courage, of the job seekers on the one hand and the pastor on the other hand. The Overnighters is recommended for everyone who cares about the value of humanity and wants to find ways they can help other people who are in trouble.
