Have you ever wondered why some people seem to warm up to you more than others? Or why some people seem to find you more likeable than others?

The explanation is simple: Those that warm up to you quicker are those that you genuinely show interest in. Those that you genuinely show interest in will want to be around you because you make them feel good about themselves.

To show interest in someone, you need to be genuinely interested and impressed by who they are and what they have. It takes a humble attitude to realize that someone might be better at something than us, or that someone might be more successful than us.

If you never fail to recognize this fact, and if in your heart and mind you want to learn more about them, then the other person will tend to reciprocate your genuineness, and they will like you back. Your appreciation of the other person also makes them feel good about themselves, and everyone wants to be around people that make them good about themselves.

Take note though: The interest and appreciation you show cannot be not fake – it will show in your actions and in your words. This will make you seem insincere, because others will be able to tell.

So be open in your mindset about appreciating who other people are, and they will give it back to you in the form of a friendship.
