It isn’t just man that is not an island. Nor is it just man that needs a friend. GiGi is a great horned owl that was hit by a car, suffered head trauma, and almost died.
According to a report from The Dodo, she was brought to Mississippi’s Wild at Heart Rescue, where she was taken care of.
While at the rescue, GiGi developed a bond with Douglas “Doug” Pojeky, the president of the rescue. One time, Douglas had to leave for a trip and was gone for a while. GiGi missed him so much that when he returned, GiGi draped her wings around him. Like a human being hugging with both arms.
During GiGi’s healing process, she was just so happy to be on her friend’s arms. Maybe to Gigi, Douglas was like a father.
This shows us that even birds feel emotions and attachment. The more the reason we should treat them with kindness and affection.
