Essena O’Neill is an internet star. She got more than 580,000 followers on Instagram, 260,000 subscribers on YouTube and 60,000 followers on Snapchat. Yet she decided to abandon all these and declare war on social media.
She deleted over 2,000 photos from her Instagram, re-captioned the remaining photos and changed the name of her account to “Social Media is Not Real Life”. She changed the remaining instagram photos to reveal the truth behind them.
