Should I Work From Home?

A lot people fantasize of the idea, but is it really a good idea for you to work from home? Are you thinking of starting a home business? Do you hate traffic?
No matter what the positives for working at home are, there are some negatives. Generally, it’s a personality thing and what sort of environment do you really work better in. Also, are you ready for that kind of commitment?
No Boss.
Pro: It’s true that your boss is not in your home looking over shoulder.
Con: However, we all have a “boss,” someone that we answer to:
Bloggers have their audience to please. Freelancers and service providers have their clients to please. Product sellers have their customers to please. Writers have their editors, publishers, and readers to please. Inventors have their end-user to please. We all have ourselves, family, and financial needs that we must live up to.

Good to see this list posted. I’ve worked from home before, and it’s not all gravy all the time :-)
Working from home myself, I find the biggest down to be the lack of real interaction with other people.
Anyhow, I enjoy working from home! The work schedule is flexible and I can always create socialization time. :)
I’m ready for anything that this work might throw at me!
You have to have it in your soul, have to be able to weather bad financial times, and have be able to sell. These are not easy things.
Also, working from home drove me nuts. 24-7. So I got an office.
I stopped working from home when a client showed up knocking on my door at 11PM wanting some “quick updates” done to their ad…
For me working from home is the best.
And I am doing it.
It’s hard to beat distractions, but it worths.
if you’re the breadwinner then NO WAY! but if not, working at home give loads of flexibility, and probably reduces burn out

My workspace is on our home property. The biggest pro for me is flexibility with our children’s schedules. Snow days & strep throat are not disasters for us. Isolation can be a problem working at home if you don’t have employees; doing volunteer work is a great fix. Like anything worthwhile, working at home takes commitment and effort.
