Goodreads: book networking
Goodreads is a a splash of social networking mixed with the library. Goodreads lets you network with other readers to find great reading material and read reviews. If you wonder what other people are reading or if you have a hard time discovering great content, Goodreads looks like the site for you.
Let’s make reading fun again. Somehow, reading books seems to have gotten a bad rap. People are working too hard to read, people are watching TV because they can veg out and turn their brains off — hey, we feel it too! But every once in a while you run into a friend who tells you about this “great new book I’m reading.” And suddenly you’re excited to read it. It’s that kind of excitement that goodreads is all about.

Do you have a suggestion for a similar website that is geared more towards children? My 8 year old nephew heard about goodreads and wanted to join, but just from my limited experience with it, I don’t think it’s appropriate for him. My friend is recommending books about S&M, and her friend is using expletives in the titles of his bookshelves, which is fine for me, but my nephew doesn’t need to see that. Any suggestions?
