Index Card Hacks

I love index cards. I'd like to blame Merlin Mann and his hipster PDA for this obsession, but I don't use a hipster PDA and still I find myself unable to pass the index card rack at Office Depot without stopping for a look. Index cards provide a sturdier alternative to notepad paper, making them ideal for "throwaway" notes like directions or phone numbers -- notes I'll need… Continue reading

Miniaturize a pen

The folks at Instructables have once again posted a "why didn't I think of that" project. The idea is simple, yet really useful: cut a Bic pen in half. A Bic pen that has been halved becomes much less intrusive, and becomes a real convenience. It is really easy to carry in a pocket (especially for those of us carrying a Hipster PDA). Moleskine Memo Pocket – Wallet & Hipster PDA Case

The Cranking Widgets Blog had an interesting tip on using a Moleskine Memo Pocket. You can use your Moleskine Pocket Memo as a wallet and Hipster PDA carrying case. It opens my eye with the level of his organization. It takes the indexcard usage to the next level. Also take a look at his Indexcarding System manual on his implementation and methods of… Continue reading

The Power of Good Old Checklists

I left my house for work this morning, knowing that I'm going to go from the office into a whole other world: PodCamp. So, I had to have everything read, because I wasn't coming home. I said to myself, fleetingly, I should write a checklist. I didn't. So far, here's what I forgot:

  • Videocamera recharger - cost for batteries $20 minimum.
  • USB for iPod (recharger)- cost for recharger at Apple

D*I*Y Planner Wants Writers!

I do a lot of writing about productivity, self-improvement, and creativity. Some of it, I put here. Some of it, I put on my own site, and then some more, I put over at D*I*YPlanner.com, which is a great site with all kinds of great stuff, like downloadable planner pages for your paper planner of choice (including Hipster PDA, I might add!). Well, Doug's wife just had a baby, and between… Continue reading
