We leave our air off as much as possible (we’ve only had it on 5 days this summer). Partly because we want to save and partly to reduce our contribution to emissions. Using the clothesline, and avoiding the oven help tremendously. And it’s surprising how much less heat flourescent lightbulbs put out.

It’s always great to hear these tips, but in a climate where it gets really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter, it’s tough to choose a happy medium for some of these tips.
Dark shingles are bad in the summer, but good in the winter. Same thing with blocking sunlight with trees (specifically evergreens).
