If you are thinking of moving into a management position, you undoubtedly want to take a holistic look at your career. Erin Malone from Boxes and Arrows provides some excellent insight about the various things you need to consider before moving into management.

When I made the shift  to manager, I had no idea how to make the transition nor did I have anyone to guide me through the changes to my role. I didn’t know that to be a successful manager I had to change more than my title; I had to change my mindset…I made a lot of mistakes, but, thankfully, I have had staff who have been very forgiving as I have grown into the role of being a manager and a leader.

    He makes some excellent points. An excellent podcast for anyone interested in management is Manager-Tools.com. It’s not theory, it’s actionable. Becoming a member gives you access to very dynamic discussion boards. Membership is free.
