Leadership is Influence, Not Control

Leadership is Influence, Not Control

What is a leader? Is it someone who tries to control everything they can, or someone who influences those around them?

How do you become a leader with influence and not one by force? Michael Hyatt attempts to show us how with a few pointers for the leaders and would-be leaders out there.

Cast the vision. Oftentimes people don’t do what we want, because we have not invested the time to paint the vision. In my experience, people want a challenge. They want to do something significant. They are eager to help. But no one has given them a compelling vision of a new reality. If you consider yourself a leader, this is your job.

Leadership isn’t just all control, it is more influence and lead by example. A leadership where there is just control from leader and no input from the group or team is a bad one as it doesn’t allow the group to help and is known as a dictatorship. Leadership is similar to control but not the same as leadership motivates and rather influences the team than controls and orders them around.
