Weight Loss For A Perfect Valentines

beauty fruits

As another one of the many special days of this year, Valentines Day, dawns upon us, I thought I’d sit down to write out some ideas you could get going right now to look and feel your best on the day when you’re going to spend some time with your loved one(s).Yes, I know weight loss doesn’t happen in a week, but starting now is better than starting later. And there is no better motivation to get yourself going than to use relationships and Valentines Day.So here are 10 fun ideas to getting your weight loss on track:

  1. Avoid junk food altogether. No more McDonalds, Burger Kind, KFC and kebabs. Junk food gives you “empty calories” and unneeded weight loss.
  2. No more beer. A tough one for me. Beer can be fattening if had on a regular basis.
  3. Eat only until satisfied. Too many people eat and eat and eat even if they’ve had enough. Eat only till you’re satisfied.
  4. Drink a glass of water before you start a meal. Water naturally needs some space so that you feel fuller without actually having to stuff yourself.
  5. Boil your vegetables instead of cooking them, or even better, eat them fresh.
  6. Read Tom Venuto’s “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle”. This is one I book I really like.
  7. Go on a juice detox.
  8. Get some good sleep. Sleep is vital to body rejuvenation and repair so make sure you get some good sleep and keep your timings consistent. Lack of sleep can contribute to lack of weight loss.
  9. Keep hydrated. Drink lots of water throughout the day. Read about starting your day with a pint of water in the free How to Live Healthy in an Unhealthy World book.
  10. Jog up a hill. Hills are like lifting weights for runners. Do this only if you have enough endurance built up. It will also help convert useful fat to a little muscle.

If you’ve got some “different” tips for creative weight loss, please share them…

The link to the “free” book is broken. it never sends the email with the download link (lame to do that to begin with)

Anyone got a copy they can post a torrent link of or a real URL?

    Hi Tim,

The link is working. Please check your SPAM or JUNK folder. If not, email me at kavit @ wellness-junction.com and I’ll send you the book.

Otherwise go to http://www.wellness-junction.com and on the sidebar is a sign up box.

    Apologies for the issue.

Hmm… “Boil your vegetables instead of cooking them”? I’m having trouble wrapping my brain around that one.

  • Atticus says on February 14th, 2008 at 1:07 pm

It takes roughly 15 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain that it’s full. This is actually physiological reaction from our primitive days when three square meals a day were a rarity.

To counteract this response, eat slowly and give your brain time to catch up with your body so to speak. Take a sip of water between bites, or if you are dexterous, try using chopsticks to eat.

I stumbled over the boil vs. cook vegetables too. Maybe you mean steam?

If counting calories per day, begin the count with your favorite meal (mine is supper, so I count calories from 5pm to 5 pm) – you’re more likely to stay within limits if you’re not giving up what you love the most.

Please don’t propagate the myth that fat can be converted into muscle. Fat can be burned. Muscle can be built. Fat is fat and muscle is muscle, neither turn into each other.

  • Ryan says on February 15th, 2008 at 11:46 am

Along with the myth that fat can “turn” into muscle, please do not advise any “detox” diets. Why would someone want to only drink juice or wheatgrass or whatever for a few days? What about the thermic effect of eating protein? Sparing muscle while losing fat? Weight training? How about eating more fruits and veggies and fish? Those are simple recommendations

While Tom’s book is excellent, and I highly recommend it, I doubt he’d be thrilled to have it in a list that promotes such ridiculous ideas as “fat turns into muscle” or juice detoxing.

Weight loss isn’t something you can do for a few weeks or month. It’s a life-long commitment. People who lose weight and keep it off succeed by adapting a healthy lifestyle, not by dieting. You must enforce healthy eating habits that will continue to be part of your life forever.

I do not generally post to blogs however I liked your post so I was stimulated to do so. Straying off the subject slightly, what is your opinion regarding walking? Which is these days being put forward as the best exercise to burn fat.
