Somehow, although it has changed, nothing is better. It is still grammatically incorrect. In the second sentence, the subject is wrong, the direct object is wrong, the verb should be the infinitive and not missing the “to”. The grammar says, “I don’t have a drop of pride in my work or interest in writing.” Moreover, the sentence implies that you should want to calm your “nervous system” – which is the same as a degenerative nerve disease. The colloquialism is to “calm your nerves”, not “calm your nervous system” and although these two things may sound the same, they are most definitely not the same.
I can’t believe I just wrote that paragraph! It just infuriates me that “Lifehack” is known as a popular self-help and productivity resource, but then you click on a headline only to discover two things. 1. The article needs WAY more help than you do. and 2. The article is almost always the bare-bones minimum phone-in that can fit on a postage stamp. Heck, this one was written in Photoshop… twice… and it still looks like an eight-year-old did it. I realize that this is listed as a 30s tip (which should be “30 sec. tip”) but what happened to the other 28 seconds you had left over?
Here’s one I didn’t know. Reading a Lifehack article about one, un-sourced, unattributed benefit of eating cherries can make you pull your hair out.
I’m not trying to attack anyone personally or individually. I am trying to take a anonymous swipe at anyone, I’m using my full name. I am trying to provide a reflection of how bad this blog has really become over the last year in the hope that it will improve in the next.
