Become a self-starter
Psychology Today posted a motivating article called “You 2.0″ that gives tips about how to radically improve your life. The following quote from Psychology Today summarizes the article nicely:
You may feel bound to your timid demeanor, your stifling job, or your rancorous relationship, but there is one realm over which you unquestionably have control: your own head. Herein, five principles of change to turn you into a self-starter.
The article is well worth the read, but if you don’t have time to go through the entire article the main points are listed below.
- Overcome your fear of failure
- Embrace risk and novelty
- Create a new internal vision
- Expect (and enjoy) discomfort
The main points may seem lofty, but the article does a nice job of simplifying them in and making them really hit home.

Man! This site is absolutely awesome!(Now discovered it)An absolute sprawling goldmine of knowledge and wisdom! I’m 19yrs old and I’m so timid and nervous, though I’m now well on my way to overcoming it. The awesome thing is, the points listed in the article are EXACTLY what I’ve realized were a very big part of my issue, through introspection and lengthy periods of quiet time spent looking honestly at myself.
* Overcome your fear of failure
* Embrace risk and novelty
* Create a new internal vision
* Expect (and enjoy) discomfort
I eventually pinpointed and wrote down those along with other points to work on.
