Whether you want to kill some time, have a laugh, get some fashion tips, look at some product reviews before going shopping, or look for advice on diet and exercise, YouTube is the place for you. There is a huge amount of content on the website, so separating the good from the bad can get a bit tricky. The great thing about the YouTube community is that, over the years, a lot of incredibly talented and skilled people have started posting videos with useful advice on wide variety of topics. You can find expert advice in any niche these days, from fashion to gaming–you just need to find the right channels. In order to make your life a bit easier, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best gurus on YouTube in their respective fields.

1. Beauty and Makeup- Michelle Phan

Michelle Phan has over 6.1 million subscribers. It isn’t surprising because she has well over 200 videos with great makeup tutorials and even life tips, like “Girl’s Guide to Starting Over,” which deals with bouncing back from a break up.  Michelle really knows her stuff, and is a charming young lady and great presenter to boot. She has been around for over 5 years now, so in some of the older tutorials the quality of the video is a bit lower, but the tips and tricks are pure gold. Michelle does a great job narrating the videos in a gentle, melodic voice, and is careful to point out all the little details involved in the process. Every girl can learn something useful from this compassionate and positive young makeup guru, so be sure to check her out.

The sins are related to plot holes, lack of realism, breaking the basic laws of physics, illogical sequences, poor story-telling, bad acting, overuse of cliches, etc. It is an incredibly fun overview of iconic movies that everyone film fan will enjoy. Check out the new “What’s the Damage” series where the havoc wreaked in action/adventure movies is quantified based on average prices of the objects being destroyed on screen. Also, check out the “Conversation with Myself about Movies” series where we see a more subjective take on movie-related topics. I wholeheartedly recommend these movie gurus.
