This article is a bit too light…

Since several months now I’m using Copernic Desktop Search to index my Outlook folders.

Then I keep all my “Sent” items.

It makes me gain really a lot of time when I want to find back a message I sent or received several months ago, launching a “search” using Copernic is a matter of seconds. When I use Outlook’s search function, it can take minutes

Re #8 (Make heavy use of the delete key):

If you have Gmail or Yahoo or some of the other web-based emails, so you don’t really care how big your email “file” gets, then you also have the option of tagging and archiving the emails.

I heartily agree: Nothing beats deleting an email that you received a CC on and you won’t have to reference it later. However, being able to just store it somewhere else (but be able to search on it later) is also helpful.
