The Art of Sucking Down

Guy Kawasaki has a great post on communicating effectively with any people, not just sucking up with big titles people. Guy says we should not be nice to people who are superior than us, but we should be nice to anyone, especially the one who can help you. He suggests nice tips for being nice to people:

  • Understand the dynamic
  • Understand their needs
  • Be important
  • Make them smile
  • Don’t try to buy your way in
  • But do express your gratitude on the way out
  • Never complain
  • Rack up the karmic points
  • Accept what cannot be changed

The important thing is that do not be nice because you need something for them. Be nice because everyone is human being and empathize with them. Remember, what goes around, comes around.
