Ten Ways Computer can Ruins your Health
There is a Tech/Health article surfaces which talks about 10 ways a computer can hurt your body, mind and environment. It also suggest ways to defense or minimize the damage. Read this article if you are sitting in front of computer all day. Here are summary of the ten:
- Repetitive Stress Injuries
- Extra Weight
- Laptop-Induced Shoulder And Back Injuries
- Eyestrain
- Poor Circulation
- Back And Neck Damage From Bad Posture
- Headaches And Migraines
- Insomnia
- Internet Addiction And Other Risky Behaviors
- Environmental Impact
Laptop is the killer – because the laptop keyboard and screen is often smaller than desktop. The design of laptop keyboard is more into portable than ergonomic. I am in my office’s health and safety team, and we come up with a good policy that if people are using laptop, we budget and provide them a set of wireless keyboard and mouse, and a laptop stand for their laptop. The keyboard is ergonomically designed better, and the laptop stand will help the back and neck position and eye level as well.

Which brand of keyboard exactly was used and how can one find the stand you speak of? Thanks.

Thanks for bringing these tips to our attention. Using a wireless keyboard and mouse with a laptop probably would save a lot of wear and tear on the body!
You’re grammar is off a little though. You need to change this title to “10 Ways a Computer Can Ruin Your Health” or “10 Ways Computers Can Ruin Your Health.” :-)
(Great Blog! I’ll be coming back often!)
Thanks,
Barbara

Those are all important things to keep in mind if you spend long hours in front of a computer.
I got a blood clot in my lung 5 years ago because of sitting too much and not getting enough activity. The end result was a few days in the hospital after suffering from searing pain every time I took a breath. Not fun.
I still work long hours at computers, but I now maintain a strict exercise program. I recommend this for everyone.
