Tabbed Browsing on your Mac Desktop

Here’s an interesting Apple app for your Mac. Sticky Windows 2.0 allows you to drag any window, like iTunes or your browser window, to the edge of the screen where it will turn into a small tab.

When you hit a tab, the window will restore to it’s original position. Sticky Windows is a shareware program by Donelleschi Software that runs on Mac OS X Tiger.

Yes, um, there’s a feature quite like that already built into the mac OS; it’s called “minimize” and is represented by a “-” sign. And that tab thing? So OS 8. Who needs a bunch of little tabs hugging their screen edges?

    • Tshombe says on April 9th, 2007 at 10:19 pm

Minimize works OK, but with this tab function I can actually see clearly what I put there. Minimizing is not nearly as readable, and is limited where the minimized window goes. The tab feature is versatile.

You’re right that it is reminiscent of previous OS, but I’ve just begun to use it and find it is working for the time being.

To each his/her own, right? Whatever works.

      Best,

I bought it after seeing it on Digg. Unfortunately I couldn’t start it as it would get into a loop of authentication. I mailed the developer and he told me there’s a bug when you use Filevault. He also told me they plan on having a fix for it in the next few days. Im going off Filevault today anyway, so its not that big a problem for me.

Yeah the Filevault issue has been fixed. I currently use both Filevault and Sticky Windows without any issue.

Sticky Windows is awesome I couldn’t live without it
