Some Tagging Tips

Robert Andrews has asked couple of top tagger at del.icio.us for some good tips on tagging. If you are not planning and maintaining your tags, once your bookmarks is grow bigger, it will become harder to search through the bookmark you want. Couple of good tips from them are:

  • Use high descriptive words.
  • Avoid to have duplicated tags with same meaning.
  • Combine at least two tags to drill down the URL with topics later.
  • Pick some popular keywords.
  • Keep your tags simple.

I usually keep my tags in singular form to make it consistent. Do not complicate your tags keyword by introduce phases into your tag system - try to use multiple tags instead.
