Are we getting more lazy, or we are just looking for a work-life-balance. Is work too demanding for you to be on-call 24 hours a day? Forbes has an article just for this topic, and it is quite interesting to think about.

… American workers are now connected to their offices by mobile devices that leave many of them on call 24 hours a day, as if they were doctors. But it’s not just work and technology that have stolen idle time–it’s also the American attitude toward health that has taken on a controlling and moralistic tone. Were F. Scott Fitzgerald, whose many boozy do-nothing moments gave him the time and perspective he needed to write two of America’s greatest novels ( The Great Gatsby and Tender Is the Night), alive today, we’d probably be reading about his stints in rehab in Vanity Fair…

    I just got back from sneaking out of the office! I have a business on the side and I occasionally need to make mid-day phone calls to Mexico. Guilt and honesty, however, ensure that I subtract that time from my lunch break.
