Is it good idea to use presentation slides, or not?

Over at Creating Passionate Users posted up a very interesting topic on Stop your presentation before it kills again!. Kathy Sierra suggested her opinions on why we shouldn’t need slides if your slides suck, or how we can improve our slides if we really need them:

They don’t let the slides constrain them to a script, and they don’t let the slide equipment keep them trapped behind the invisible wall that separates them from the participants.
