How to sync Outlook with GCal and Gmail
Synchronization on multiple locations is always hard, and it is really tough to get it right if you are doing multiple two-way sync. Though someone got it right - engtech blog introduces his holy grail of synchronization. He has a system setup for syncing Microsoft Outlook (multiple locations), Google Calendar, Gmail, iPod and Mobile Phone. Here is the diagram he used to illustrate:
One of the key tool that engtech uses is ScheduleWorld, which is a online PIM system that has great synchronization support (yes, it supports Google Calendar syncing).
Check this how-to if you are looking for syncing these services and applications with your personal information.

Great idea — I do largely the same thing, although I use the phenomenal Airset instead of Schedule World. Airset is great because I can access my entire schedule, tasks, and address book — basically all of Outlook except e-mail — on my Sprint mobile phone. I love it. I also use it to sync GCal and Outlook.

What a terrible idea. Pen and paper, people.

Pen and paper offer no way of reliably syncing your schedule with that of other people. However, the flow for this scheme is a goddam nightmare. No contact sync back from GMail, and no two-way calendar sync with ScheduleWorld to anything other than GCal. I feel strongly that every sync should be two-way and that each end should offer some sort of duplicates detection. Rather than pen and paper, I should be able to substitute my PDA and let it flow around bidirectionally from there.
I’d like to see a review of two-way sync apps that might be able to work with something like a Palm and Gmail/GCal.

Dear folks
I have signed up for this ScheduleWorld service some days ago and just one day later I had to notice that someone got unauthorized access to my ScheduleWorld account via syncML. I realized that due to the fact that a new SyncML Device has been added to the list in the preferences section:
This is the original reference in the preferences:
“SyncML Device IMEI:0E….65BB8BEF5 ( Auto-added ) :”
As you might see above the device is a mobile phone.
This person must have known my password and account ID … but …
– neither have I told anyone that I have this new account
– nor have I synced it via a mobile phone cause I haven’t any mobile phone!
I am really upset and concerned about this!
I requested a comment/statement from the ScheduleWorld team via postings 3 times in the ScheduleWorld forum with the consequence that all 3 postings have been just deleted. No comment, no statement from developer’s side. And this makes me really concerned!
So dear users it’s up to you to make up your own opinion about this security issue!!!

Hi all,
I have posted 3 times in the ScheduleWorld forum with security critical questions, e.g. requesting more details of the company “ScheduleWorld”. in my opinion a simple imprint would be fine and a min. requirement.
Consequence was that my postings has been deleted every time and my account has been also deleted.
Is this normal?! This seems to me not really trustworthy

Qiv and NoHolyGrail are the same person and is a professional troll - likely from a competitor.
All questions are answered no matter what - simply look at the forums and you’ll see for yourself.
Cheers.

I just met with a client that is working directly with google on this solution. I can’t say more now but there will be an amazing two way sync solution to this annoying problem very soon. Beta is scheduled for April 2008. I saw a Demo and it is AMAZING no more work arounds one way communication or weirdness. I am very excited.

Another way to use your google data is to access it trough MS Outlook.
We just launched KiGoo, a free tool that allows Google users to fully manage (create, read, update and delete) their Calendar and Contacts from MS Outlook.
Also KiGoo manage the Free Busy information of your Gmail contacts for appointments if they shared their FB status.
Currently we support Windows XP and office 2007.
You could download it from http://www.getkigoo.com
