Backup Your Macintosh

The Sitening blog has a tutorial on how to backup your Mac intelligently. It’s well considered and goes through steps, what to expect, and some of the tricks you might encounter along the way.

Last week Jon wrote about the horrifying experience everyone eventually has to deal with - data loss. His wife’s hard drive failed - and without a current backup to rely upon - he went through two data recovery companies and two thousand dollars to retrieve 80 gigs of home movies, pictures, and a career’s worth of graphic design files.

My stomach turned just a little when I read this, because I’m not sure the last backup I took. After reading this through, I’m surely going to implement a better backup regimen, and I’ll use this guide to do it.
