Are You Lazy In Relationships?

Are You Lazy In Relationships

People sometimes ask me how to sustain better relationships with the people in their lives. My #1 suggestion is something that, unfortunately, several people I love fall down on regularly. It’s this: when it comes to your relationship with your co-worker, friend, or significant other – pull your weight.

Alexandra Levit writes about something that would have struck a chord with me a few months ago in her article entitled Do You Suffer From Relationship Laziness. I definitely have, and occasionally still do, but one thing is for sure: the more you put into any relationship, the more you will get out of it.

It’s pretty simple advice, but you can fall out of practice. I guess that’s why Alexandra mentions ‘laziness’ and not ‘unwillingness’. Small gestures and thoughtfulness mean a lot to the people you know.

    ‘– pull your weight.’

In our house, we say, everybody has to do their fair share.

If you want to eat, help unload groceries. Want to have friends over? Help clean up.

Something about fairness and the word fair seems to go far in making this point.
