Are you close to your best friend’s family? Relationships between best friends are often all-consuming, and you can easily end up as close to your best friend’s family as you are to them. It’s pretty awesome having a second family who love and feed you!

Check out these 10 signs you’re a member of your best friend’s family:

1. You Feel Unnatural Ringing Their Doorbell

You spend most of your free time at your best friend’s house, so you feel weird knocking on their door or ringing their doorbell when you arrive. You’ve showered in their shower hundreds of times. So, you’re pretty sure that means you’re not a guest anymore – more of a tenant who doesn’t pay rent.

2. You Eat At Their House As Often As You Eat At Your Own

You eat dinner with your best friend’s family whenever you can, and they know your food preferences by heart. They would never serve you anything with mushrooms in it, and they always make sure there are some BBQ chips in the cupboard for you.

3. You Have Spare Clothes At Their House

You spend so much time at your best friend’s house that it only makes sense for you to leave some clothes there. Not your whole wardrobe – just a few t-shirts, jeans, and underwear. Oh, and a towel for when you use the shower. And spare shoes. And a jacket, in case it rains.

4. You Have Your Own Designated Sleeping Area

You have a special sofa at your best friend’s house where you sleep. You always sleep there if you stay over, and you feel slightly territorial when someone else sits on it. Excuse me – don’t you realize you’re sitting on my bed?!

5. You Know They Know Who You Really Are

Your best friend’s family knows all about your weird flaws and habits, and they totally accept every single one of them – mainly because you do the same thing for them. They don’t say anything when you eat chocolate spread with a spoon, because you don’t roll your eyes when they drink milk from the carton. You all understand real friendship is loving everything about someone – including their weird, gross habits.

6. You Always Know About Their Arguments

You always know when your best friend is fighting with their family – and sometimes you actually get involved in the arguments too; after all, you know every single detail of the disagreement.

7. You Help With Chores Around The House

Since you spend so much time at your best friend’s house eating food and hanging out, you know it only makes sense that you should pitch in with the washing up every now and again. You’ve even turned a white top pink when you washed it with your red socks – a sure sign you’re a real member of your best friend’s family.

8. You’d Rather Be at Their House

You’d rather go hang out at your best friend’s house than sit at home alone, even if you’re still just sitting with your laptop, eating chips, and watching YouTube videos. You’re not sure why, but the snacks taste better and the videos are funnier when you’re with your best friend’s family.

9. You Go To Their House When You’re Going Through A Bad Time

They have been your support system for years now, and you feel comforted just being around them. So if you’re having a hard day, there’s no question that you’ll be spending your evening sitting on your best friend’s sofa and venting about your frustrations.

10. You Not Being There Feels Weird

You always get invited to family parties and gatherings, there are pictures of you in the photo albums, and you once spent Christmas with your best friend’s family, so everyone feels it when you’re not around. You’re part of the family, which is why you’re so relaxed when you’re with them.
