8 Strong Reasons For You To Start A Business

Start a business now. Become your own boss. Hire your friends. Doesn’t that sound great? It’s not going to be easy, but it could be very rewarding.

With tiny companies blossoming into massive billion dollar companies seemingly every year, I’m sure you’re beginning to catch the entrepreneurial bug as well. You want a piece of all that, don’t you?

It doesn’t have to be the next Facebook or the next Snapchat. You just want to build something significant, that will last long enough for you to be satisfied with your impact on this world. Maybe it’s a catering company or a heating and air conditioning service company, or maybe you just want to post some video tutorials on Youtube.

But maybe you just can’t seem to get yourself started. Well, here’s a nice little list of reasons why today should be the birthday of your next company.

1. Your salary will always be less than your boss’s in the traditional workplace

So why not become your own boss? While there may be a few exceptions to the rule above, if you’re working in the classic corporate environment, it really tends to be true. You’ve got a fixed amount of head room, and no matter how good you are, as long as your manager sticks around, you can only go so far. Your best hope after you’ve gone as far as your manager can get you is that someone from another group recognizes your talent, your manager leaves, or you simply switch to a better position at a new company.

2. You can set your own rules

Have you ever wanted to work for Google just so you can ride around the office on a scooter? Well, if you start your own business, you won’t have to. Every day is casual Friday. You can work as early or as late as you want, as long or as short as you want, and as hard or as little as you want.

3. You can sell your business

You can’t directly sell your 20 years of work experience at another company for anything but more work experience and maybe a better salary if you’re lucky. But if you put your blood, sweat, and tears into a business that you are passionate about, and you turn it into a successful company, you can sell it to someone else once you’ve decided to hand over the reigns. Alternatively, you could pass along the reigns to your children or your friends.

4. You couldn’t have been born at a better time

This is the era of technology. If you build a software company, you can essentially create something out of thin air, duplicate it for free, and distribute it instantly. Isn’t that amazing?

5. You have a whole host of tools available to help you do this

Do you need to learn how to program in Javascript? No problem, there are hundreds of free online courses that will teach how to do exactly that. Do you need to host your website? There’s even a way to do that for free!

6. You can do what you love for a living

You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. Do you love cooking? Then, gosh darn, start a cooking blog or write an eBook or make cooking video tutorials or selling cooking products. Do what you love.

7. You don’t have to worry about fitting in

You can hire the people you want to work with. You can set the rules you want to play by. You can create the work environment that you thrive in, and that gets you excited every day.

8. You won’t have to wonder what could have happened

If you don’t try it, chances are, someone else will. So get to it!
